As a college student, I have trouble finding the time to do anything but homework. If I am not doing homework, I am sleeping. I have a passion for yoga, yet I rarely find the time to do it. This week, I am going to start forcing yoga into my schedule to prove to myself that there is always time for meditation and self care. I fear my grades will fall if I devote time to yoga regularly. I have a goal to become a yoga instructor, and this is my journey to achieving that goal.

There are many positive rewards to gain from meditation and yoga. I am looking to improve my body and mind. Of course I want to tone my stomach and legs, but there is so much more to gain from yoga. I have terrible balance. I am always shaking and I think my small childlike feet make it hard for me to keep my balance during stretches. I think meditation will bring me peace. I am quick to anger, and meditation will help me build patience. Obviously, as a college student or young adult, I am constantly under stress. I want to teach myself how to slow down and realize it is OK to be calm while dealing with a busy schedule.

I have two exams this week, which happen to be for the two most difficult classes I am taking; Statisics and French 2. My French exam is spread out, the oral part of the exam on Wednesday, and written part on Friday. On top of that, I have a couple projects due as well as my normal weekly homework. This week may have been a difficult time for me to jump into doing yoga, but I am still going to test it out and see if I can fit it into my schedule without sacrificing my grades.

I have done yoga for two days so far. I feel a little sore, and I still feel exhausted. I have found that I enjoy going to classes at the gym more than streaming yoga videos from home. I tend to be able to focus more outside of my home, which is why I get more homework done from a cafe. The key to making sure I work out every day is to find a location and vibe I enjoy. I bought myself a cute new mat as well as a bunch of comfortable yoga pants I feel confident in that has motivated me more toward my goal by needing to put them to use. I still feel stressed and tired. I am hoping regular yoga will help me gain enough energy to last through the day without relying on coffee and naps.
